At Toucan, we are committed to providing a supportive and personalised approach to education. Here, you’ll find all the information you need about enrolling your child, including fees and the steps involved in the admissions process. Entering your child in to a new educational environment can be daunting, but don’t worry, the Toucan team will support you and your child throughout the process.
Admissions Overview For Parents & Guardians
We welcome students aged 5-15 who would benefit from a tailored educational approach. Our specialised programs are designed to support neurodivergent learners and those with SEND, fostering their social, emotional, and academic growth in a nurturing environment.
Our three sites—Hub 1, Hub 2, and Forest School—each offer unique learning opportunities. Whether your child attends half a day up to a maximum of 3 days, we are dedicated to helping them thrive.
Our Admissions Process
Step 1: Initial Enquiry and Call
Reach out to us via our contact form or by calling 0191 6031005. We will discuss your child’s needs and provide an overview of our Flexi School.
Step 2: Schedule a Visit
Book a tour to explore our sites and meet our team. This is a great opportunity to see our facilities and ask any questions.
Step 3: Application Form
Complete our application form which is available by request online. This helps us gather essential details about your child’s educational needs and interests.
Step 4: Assessment Placement
If we feel our settings would be a suitable place for your child, we will initially offer you a 4 academic week assessment placement. This allows us to understand your child’s unique strengths and challenges and what will work best for them.

Following your initial enquiry one of the admissions team will contact you to discuss further and may ask you to complete our referral form which will ask some further in depth questions so we can fully understand the needs of your child.
We invite parents and children to come and visit our settings so they can get a feel for the environment and how the Toucan Flexi School works.
If it is felt that we are able to meet the needs of your child, they will initially be accepted on a 4 week trial placement.
Fees
Costs for students attending the Toucan Flexi School can vary depending on need, but fees for a half day start at £65 and for a full day £110.
