Toucan Education was founded in 2016 from a simple belief that children learn, develop and experience education in different ways.
Over the past decade, we have worked with thousands of children, young people, families and professionals, creating opportunities through our Flexi school and Alternative Provision services. Alongside this, we have supported parents, children and adults through dyslexia assessments, delivered training and conferences that share best practice and helped organisations build more inclusive workplaces through Toucan Workplace.
As our understanding has grown, so too has our commitment to ensuring that more children can access the right support at the right time. We continue to champion approaches that recognise strengths, understand challenges and create environments where children can thrive.
This is why we are delighted to be working with Whalton Church of England Primary School in Northumberland to launch our newest Toucan flexi school.
Our third provision will provide a half day of Flexi School learning, building on the successful approach already delivered through our Newcastle and Blaydon provisions. It has been designed to offer children access to a structured, nurturing and specialist environment that supports both learning and wellbeing.
For many children, success in education begins with feeling safe, understood and regulated. Through specialist literacy support, emotional regulation strategies, personalised learning approaches and relationship based practice, our new Flexi school will provide an environment where children can build confidence, develop skills and reconnect with learning.
Set within a beautiful rural location, it combines the benefits of outdoor spaces with calm learning environments, creating opportunities for children to learn in ways that work for them. The provision reflects our belief that education should adapt to the child, rather than expecting the child to adapt to education.
