Next Open Day – 16th May 

Who the Open Day is for

This Open Day is for parents and carers of children aged 5-15 who may benefit from a more personalised and understanding approach to learning. It is especially helpful for families who feel that mainstream school alone is not giving their child the calm space, smaller setting or tailored support they need.
It is suitable for children with dyslexia, SEND or any neurodivergent profile, as well as children who are finding their current school overwhelming or difficult. A diagnosis is not required and families are welcome to attend even if they are just beginning to explore options.

Parking

A large free car park is available during drop off and pick up times. Outside these times it is for Blaydon Rugby Club patrons. When entering the site, follow the road to the right. Toucan is the last building beyond the main rugby club building.

What is Toucan Flexi School?

Toucan Flexi School provides part time education and support for children who learn best in a calm, flexible and nurturing environment. Children can attend from half a day a week up to a maximum of three days a week, usually alongside their current school.
Our approach combines structure with understanding and gives each child room to feel settled, confident and ready to engage.

What to expect on the day

When you arrive you will be welcomed by the Toucan team and offered refreshments including tea, coffee, juice, mince pies and the same snacks our learners enjoy. Philippa Vince and Catherine Thompson will introduce the Flexi School and explain how we support children and families. You will see classrooms, movement and sensory areas, examples of learning activities and the spaces children use each day. There will also be time to ask questions and speak with staff, who can explain how part time provision may fit alongside your child’s current school.

Admissions and pricing

If you choose to explore a place after the Open Day, our team will guide you through the admissions process and discuss the four week assessment placement that helps us understand your child’s needs. We can also work closely with your child’s current school to ensure a joined plan is in place.

Current fees 

Half day sessions start at £70

Full day sessions start at £120
